My friend, Chris, is an awesome game developer who taught me quite a bit about what it means to make a game. He recently commented on an article called "What Pac-Man Really Looks Like", which brings up the question of whether a disassembly of the Pac-Man program is what the game really is. It seems like it's brought up an interesting question of whether or not a videogame is its source code and Chris hadn't found a proper answer just yet. The following is my stab at a response to the question: Saying a videogame is its source code seems like saying a building is its blueprint or some dish is its ingredients; It is a very crude definition. There is much more to a creation than its DNA or even its behavior/end-result. Taking the classic super mario bros as an example, you can copy its source code, emulate it,...

I'd been meaning to write about Taylor Swift for a long while now and it seems like after the Kanye West incident at the MTV Music Video Awards, there couldn't be a better time to explain my praises for this amazingly talented singer/songwriter. It might be easy to pass this singer off as a pretty girl who sings about love stories in a country-music genre instead of pop, but if it were only that, you could mention plenty of others including the famous Miley Cyrus (who is admirable in her own way but I couldn't agree is a "good singer"). However, this girl deliberately chose to sing Country music and is responsible for bringing back to the forefront of pop culture to today's young generation, but not only that, Taylor Swift seriously and fully understands her art form and tells a story in each song. Any real singer will tell you that...

If you've been listening to any news today regarding the world of tennis, the big highlight today was the Quarterfinals match between the Danish 9th Seed, Caroline Wozniacki, and the American unseeded Melanie Oudin, the "Cinderella Story". Being an evening match in New York at the U.S. Open, the clear crowd favorite was Oudin who has been playing a solid, defensive game so far, but I think a lot remains to be also said about the Danish tennis star, Caroline! For Denmark, Caroline is the highest-ranked tennis player they've ever had and she continues to push ahead at the age of 19, making to the women's semifinals at the U.S. Open this week. She's got a wonderful serve and amazing consistency and skill, and greatest of all is her positive attitude with a smile as consistent as her forehand. A huge congratulations to her for getting to the semifinals for the first time at a...

Hey all! It's been a while since I last updated! It's been a pretty hectic two months and is now already September. Unbelievable... A tremendous chunk of my time has been dedicated to improving my skills in tennis, including working with three different coaches, each focusing on different aspects of my game and was playing seven times a week up until just recently, now that my league team's season is over. Since my last update, I've won a 2.5 Singles tournament, reached the Consolation Finals in a 3.0 tournament, and played at Sectionals in Portland, Oregon (unfortunately our team lost), and just yesterday played an epic 2+ hour 3-set, no advantange match in a tournament where I lost 7-6 (9-7 tie-break), 7-5 in the 3.0 tournament. Now that I understand so much of my own game from what my coaches taught me, each match has been helping me to really take...
